My
podcast begins with general information, so the audience and I are on equal
grounds of common knowledge – smoking statistics, effects, etc. Further along
in the podcast, however, I introduce people affected by smoking, moving the
listeners from the common ground to new information. From this, I open the
discussion to the new information learned from my research – the climax of the
podcast. Then, I connect this information to what has already been discussed by
the interviewees and finally to a conclusion that moved from known information
to new information. Because it is new information, it is not level to the
common understanding the podcast began with.
This
structure follows closely to some Freakonomics
shows as it opens the conversation with common knowledge, furthers the
conversation with interviews, and concludes with the learned information from
the discussion.
I counted 10 oral citations and 24 written citations in the transcript.
