Amanda
here with three sites that give pitching tips. Though honestly I just
Googled “how to pitch an idea.” Hopefully they will give good tips that will be
handy in pitching my idea this week.
1.
From http://scottberkun.com/essays/38-how-to-pitch-an-idea/ we see that you
should break your pitch down to follow the three levels of depth. The 5 second,
30 second, and 5 minute pitches. If you can successfully deliver a 5 second
pitch, the 30 second and 5 minutes should just flow from there.
2.
From http://www.graphics.com/article-old/how-pitch-idea we see that those who
pitch are powerless and need something from those they pitch to. The key is to
make them say yes. You should be prepared for your pitch and ready when they
ask questions about the idea. If you can’t answer them, they are less likely to
accept your proposal.
3.
From http://www.forbes.com/sites/carminegallo/2012/07/17/how-to-pitch-anything-in-15-seconds/
we see that if you can’t grab the persons attention in 15 seconds, they aren’t
going to listen anymore. To best pitch an idea you should first have a headline
or hook sentence to grab the attention of the audience. Then state a few key
points, then back up those points with evidence.
So
for the podcast pitches, it is crucial to have a few things. You need to have a
clear topic, and at the very least a simple background of the topic. You should
be prepared with key points of your planned podcast, and can sum everything up
in one sentence. Overall, you need to keep everyone listening and engaged, or
your proposal will fall flat. And then what can you expect for your actual
podcast? Till next time! And good luck on your pitches!
