Matthew Chung W14: Pitching music sucks

This is the week before we have to pitch our ideas in front of people. Am I nervous? I'd say so. The presentation is not the part that worries me. The part is the copyright issue. Now, I have sent an email to Nuclear Blast (a metal band music label) and asked for their copyright rules so I can post snippets of their songs without any infringement. They have yet to reply back to me. I will try messaging them on Facebook instead because it seems more active than their website does.

Now, The reason why I don't fear for the pitch is mainly due to the fact that I have done some research on how to pitch.I have seen many product pitches from television, watching dragon's den or even Shark tank. I have seen good pitches and bad pitches. These are mainly for products though. A podcast is different. So i searched it up on Google and found several sources that helped me out. One was for a radio show, which is similar to a podcast pitch. What makes this one special is that it is on the CBC website, a massive corporation in the entertainment industry. It lays out every little detail of what they expect and how a pitch will be good in their eyes. Insightful stuff. (Link: http://www.cbc.ca/pitch/radiopitchguide.html)

Another source I found helpful was not as renowned as CBC but still showed great content. They got a professional to write about the basics in pitching for a podcast. They lay out important information mainly due to the fact that they too make podcasts and probably want people to pitch for them. It does mainly have to do with making a podcast to pitch your ideas but the idea is the same. (link: http://sanfranciscobookreview.com/2013/02/how-to-pitch-a-podcast/)

The last resource was the most helpful because it relayed the information to me the way I find most soothing. They explained it all by slideshow powerpoint. Now, every university student will be able to now see information on a powerpoint and extract as much information as possible. Being my third year in university, this is no new ordeal. So the delivery system was easiest to absorb rather than an article. It is a random slideshow, probably used by a different professor at a different university.  If another professor gives me supplementary information on my program, is that cheating on York? haha. Anyways, I hope these links can help other people out and I hope to God I get in contact with Nuclear Blast.
