Introductions W14: Matthew Chung

Hello everyone, I am Matthew Chung and this is my third year in York University. I came into research without really knowing anything. I was following a sheet telling me what courses to take in order to complete my Professional Writing program. But simply going after the first class, I can see where I can benefit from this course. I can see that the resources given and learned from this course can help me write future projects, research papers and verify information.
I do enjoy writing  but my passions really go with Metal music and animals. I know, odd combination. Though writing is fun, relaxing and a great way to express oneself, I have found that the writing itself has become synonymous with schooling. This takes the enjoyment out of it. I can no longer write without some sort of deadline or else I come up with no ideas. It’s a shame but that’s what schooling has done to me. I find random facts and care tips on animals to interest me even though these facts are pure science based and seem more scholarly than a poem I write in my free time. My mind is strange. Sometimes animal facts lead to other interests like aquatic botany. My fish-keeping hobby has introduced me to botany, well at least aquatic botany.
That is besides the point. Back to the main issue at hand, I have never really listened to podcasts and have never even heard of RefWorks or Zotero. The most research I have done is through either Google, Web of Science, or Wikipedia. the Web of Science was a must for a Biology course I took and failed out of interest. I feel excited for making a podcast though. I have never done this sort of thing and never really knew this side of the world existed. I have heard of famous people doing radio podcasts which just end up being them talking. I always assumed podcasts were simply audio snippets of famous people being interviewed. I guess I'm looking in the wrong places.

I have looked over all the topics and podcast location and I have found that though the science, grammar, and advertising podcasts seem interesting. Interesting but not what I am looking for. I have found some podcasts on Metal music but it seems more like just radio shows. Not very informative.  Well, I hope you all have a rocking time here and learn a lot.
